The home of the traditional ruler of Ndia Iche Arondizuogu community in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Kanu Ikenolu has been burnt down by gunmen.
As reported by Punch, the development has caused panic in the community as villagers including the monarch’s family members fled into bushes.
It was gathered that the attackers threw explosives into the compound, burning down the house, cars parked and other valuables.
A villager who spoke on condition of anonymity said that properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed and that policemen were yet to arrive as at the time he was speaking to the correspondent.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye said, “Frantic efforts are on top gear to arrest the arsonists and bring them to justice.”
