The site of the twin bomb explosions that left 13 people dead and several others injured, is still under tight security watch. The place is cordoned off while operatives take full charge of the environment
An eyewitness, Mohammed Zoge, who is also a booking Clark at the forest branch of the NURTW motor park where the first explosion went off, told HOMELAND NEWS that the mastermind will most likely be a male who boarded the car at the part just before the blast occurred
At the scene of the second bomb explosion close to the Bauchi Park, eyewitnesses said the attack was carried out by a female suicide bomber.
Management committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Danjuma Sanda, who paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene described the blast as unfortunate and asked residents to be more vigilant.
Chief Medical Director of the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Musa Dakyau told us that victims who survived the blast most of whom are receiving treatment in his facility, are said to be in critical but stable condition.
Meanwhile Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Hayward Mafuyai says no student of the University died in the unfortunate twin bomb explosions.
Briefing newsmen in Jos, the Vice Chancellor said contrary to reports in some national dailies that about twelve students of the university died in the blast, only one female student sustained injuries but is strong enough to sit for her second semester examinations.
Professor Mafuyai however said the University is liaising with security agencies to ensure that the victims of the blast are fully identified and ascertained not to be students of the university.
He appealed to the media to be accurate in their reportage in order to allay the fears of parents and guardians as well as the general public especially at this critical time.
One of the two deadly explosions occurred few meters away from the faculty of medical and pharmaceutical sciences gate while students sat for their semester examinations.
Soft spots like this have continued to be the target of terrorists and residents may as well be more vigilant especially now that the onslaught against insurgents is dislodging them from their enclaves.
