The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the release of Dafaan Dariye, father of former governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, Joshua Dariye.
The eighty-seven year old, who was abducted on Saturday 7th of February, was found on Friday morning at Domark area of Quanpan Local Government of Plateau State.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, Emmanuel Abuh said the police had gathered intelligence on the where about of the victim leading to his release.
The Police PRO would not confirm if any ransom was paid before Dafaan Dariye was released because investigation, according to him, was still ongoing but he confirmed that some arrests have been made.
At the residence of Senator Joshua Dariye, well-wishers were seen trooping in and out, and women singing congratulatory songs. Efforts to extract comments from the former governor was not fruitful as he was said not to be in the mood for any interview.
