HON (.DR)PWEMWAKENO MIKELSON MACKONDO(FCIAP)- DEPUTY SPEAKER OF ADAMAWA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
The name Pwemwakeno Mikelson Mackondo may not ring a loud bell across the world, but in his immediate community of Numan in Adamawa State where he is making waves both in the civil service and politics.For instance,he has over the years made a name and created an enviable image for himself as a force to reckon with any day any time.
Mackondo is the vivacious young man, born on December 19, 1971. He had his primary school certificate in 1983 before proceeding to acquire his West African Senior School Certificate in 1988 and 2005.
Besides, Mackondo has had an array of higher qualifications obtained from notable higher institutions in the country.
These include a diploma in Accounts and Audit (1997), Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management (2008), Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (2009), B.Sc in Business Management, and a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) in 2019.
Among the institutions he has attended in the course of acquiring these qualifications are the Adamawa State Polytechnic and MAUTECH.
Mackondo who attended a preliminary Inspector of Taxes course in 2011 and a final Inspector of Taxes course in 2014, is a fellow of the Institute of Debt Recovery Practitioners of Nigeria as well as a graduate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
He worked with the Adamawa State Board of Internal Revenue from 1990 to 2014 when he left as Chief Executive Officer to play an active role in politics.
As an astute politician, he became the member representing the Numan constituency of Adamawa State, and owing to his pedigree, he had no axe to grind in clinching the position of Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly in 2019.On 27th March,2021, he was among the eleventh honorary doctorate awardees of Prowess University, Delaware, USA with honorary doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration(honor is causa) at the University of Abuja.
A happily married man with children, Mackondo takes interest in reading and politics.
DR. (MRS.) AKANLE OLUFUNKE TAIBAT- REGISTRAR/CEO,MEDICAL REHABILITATION THERAPISTS BOARD OF NIGERIA
Dr. (Mrs.) Akanle Olufunke Taibat, a licensed physiotherapist, is the current Registrar/CEO of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria. She was born on 22nd July, 1969 in Ondo town, Ondo State, Nigeria.
She attended St. Peter’s Anglican Primary School from 1974-1980 and proceeded for her secondary education at Ekimogun Community Grammar School, Bolorunduro, Ondo State (1980-1986).
After doing her A/Levels (1987/88), she proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, graduating in 1991 with a National Diploma in Science Technology (Upper Credit).
Dr. Akanle Olufunke graduated from University of Ibadan in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy.
After her internship and national service in 1996/1997, she studied and obtained two Master degrees in Orthopaedic and Sport Physiotherapy from the University of Ibadan, and Ergonomic and Industrial Physiotherapy from the University of Lagos in 2004 and 2010 respectively.
She is currently undergoing her doctoral programme in Physiotherapy with bias in Ergonomics and Industrial Physiotherapy at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
She is a member of many professional associations, some of which are the Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy and the Chartered Institute of Administration.
She is a fellow of both the Institute for Health Insurance and Managed Care of Nigeria and the Institute of Management Consultants. She has passion for research in Ergonomics and Muscoskeletal Disorder.
After acquiring commendable industrial experience in the private sector, Dr. Akanle Olufunke started her public career with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board in 2004 as a Principal Physiotherapist, and got promoted as Chief Physiotherapist, later Assistant Director of Physiotherapy and eventually, head of the Institute of Medical Rehabilitation.
She was appointed as the Acting Registrar of the board in 2014, and confirmed Registrar/CEO in 2015, a position she presently occupies as the first female registrar of the board.
She has participated in several trainings and workshops both nationally and internationally, both as a facilitator and participant.
She has delivered series of lectures on professionalism, code of ethics and the relevance of continuing professional development institutions.
She has been one of the Nigeria’s representatives at the West Africa Health Organisation (WAHO) meetings during harmonisation of minimum benchmark curriculum of training for physiotherapy and other allied health professions, accreditation guidelines, professional code of ethics and regulations etc.
Dr. Akanle Olufunke Taibat has led several teams and committees. She has been a member of and also led teams on several occasions for clinical accreditations, academic accreditations and inductions in several training institutions.
Since her assumption of office as Registrar/CEO of the board, she has been engaged in aggressive accreditation and reaccreditation of clinical and academic/training institutions of medical rehabilitation programmes.
She has made the International Day for persons with disabilities a festival, every 3rd December of the year. She also ensured the inclusion of disabilities and rehabilitation as a section on National Health Policy 2016.
She aligns the programme of the board towards the actualization of the World Health Organisation Action Plan 2015-2021 on Disabilities and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
This informed her organising the first international Conference of Medical Rehabilitation Professions in Nigeria and sub-Sahara Africa in September 2017.
Dr. Akanle Olufunke is a recipient of many awards, among which is the National Humanitarian award, and recently, the award of Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Medicine (Honorary) by the Commonwealth University and London Graduate School.
She is a consultant Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, and fellow of the National Postgraduate Physiotherapy College of Nigeria (FNPPCN) Orthopaedic.In March 2021 at the University of Abuja,she was the only female honorary doctorate awardee of the Prowess University,Delaware, USA that bagged honorary doctor of Philosophy in Public Health Administration (honoris causa).
Dr Akanle Olufunke a God-fearing woman who is happily married with children.
CHIEF(DR) ELKANAH KADOS FWA- EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF DEMSA LGA, ADAMAWA STATE
Retired career civil servant, humanitarian, grass roots politician and holder of the prestigious traditional title of Sardauna Mbula, Chief Elkanah Kados Fwa, seems to have had a fair share of life in his sixty years of experiential existence.
Born in his Borrong comminity in Adamawa State way back on November 22, 1961, Kados Fwa began his formal education at the Borrong Central Primary School in 1969.
Completing his primary education in 1975, he proceeded to the Government Secondary School, Numan, obtaining his GCE O/L in 1981. From 1987 – 1989, he was at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, for a Diploma in Local Government Finance and Administration course; just after this, he later went back to the same university for a Higher National Diploma in the same course between 1991 and 1992, this time, specializing in Audit and Investigation.
As a man who has a knack for all-round knowledge, between 1996 and 1998, he further enrolled with the College of Legal Studies, from where he graduated with a Diploma in Common Law.
Yet undone in his quest for further education, Chief Kados Fwa sought and enrolled at the Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, where he obtained an Advanced Certificate in Computer Science in 2005.
To cap it all, Chief Kados Fwa was in 2006 admitted into the Federal University of Technology {now MAUTECH), Yola, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 2012.
He started his civil service career in 1982, when he was employed into the Numan Local Government service. In 1984, he was transferred to Numan Local Government Council, following the scrapping of the then local government councils by the then military administration.
Upon the creation of Demsa Local Government Council in 1991, his services were again transferred there. Since then, he has been building up a career which has seen him serve in various capacities in all the geo-political zones in Adamawa local government service. In the course of this, he had risen through the ranks to become Director, Finance and Supplies.
Upon his retirement in 2017, Chief Kados Fwa started organising and financially empowering youths and women in his locality for self-reliance, through the operation of small-scale businesses.
This gesture and kindness in no time, prompted his people to urge him into politics. Joining the Peoples Democratic Party therefore, he soon won an election to become its chairman.
In the course of his service to humanity, Chief Kados Fwa has impacted many lives positively in his local government, virtually touching on every ward in the local government developmentally.
In the area of providing affordable healthcare delivery system, portable water, electricity transformers, rehabilitation of schools, repair of feeder roads etc, Chief Kados Fwa has written his name in gold,
For his innumerable good works he has on several occasions been honoured with many awards. For instance, he holds the prestigious traditional title of Sardaunan Mbula.
He is widely travelled and loves football, reading, playing lawn tennis as well as making new friends.In recognition of his exploits in public service, he was honoured with honorary doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration on 27th March,2021 by Prowess University, Delaware, USA at the University of Abuja.
Chief Kados Fwa is married to Mrs. Edna Elkanah, and the union is blessed with responsible children.
