As a result of the huge increase in transport fares due to the increase in fuel pump price, the Kwara State Government on Monday directed the reduction of work days for workers in the state from five to three days per week.
According to Punch, this is contained in a statement in Ilorin by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Murtala Atoyebi.
Mrs Susan Oluwole, the State Head of Service had directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to develop a format showing the alternating work days for their workers.
She stated that the government took this step to assist the workers to ease the burden and cushion the effect of the hardship being experienced by the workers resulting from the fuel subsidy removal.
She however issued warning to ensure strict compliance by workers as her office will monitor the Ministries, Departments and Agencies regularly
