The police detectives attached to Ewekoro Division of the Ogun State Police Command have commenced investigation into a tragedy that occurred on Wednesday in Onigbedu town in Ewekoro Local Government of the state when one Olubusayo Sunday,46, Eegun man and farmer, beheaded his wife and daughter in his Onigbedu house, and committed suicide by stabbing and setting himself ablaze after the ugly incident .
In Statement by the Police PRO said the man, Mr Olubusayo’s attempt to commit suicide was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to jump into a well near his house having set fire on himself but was prevented and rescued by his neighbors who later found out that he had done a great havoc in his house, but he later died in the hospital.
The wife, Oyewole Sunday, 40, and the daughter, Esther Sunday, 3, were beheaded by Mr Olubusayo for reasons known to him and the three corpses have been kept at the general hospital Ifo for autopsy and investigation.
Police also said no one or any member of the deceased family or neighbors could intimate the police the cause of the incident, but the last statement Mr Olubusayo made before he died, in the presence of the police detectives suggested that there was a quarrel between him and his late wife.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye has directed that the matter be transferred to the department of criminal investigation Eleweran Abeokuta for thorough investigation.
