Thursday’s arrest of DAAR COMMUNICATION’S staff, Amaechi Anakwe is beginning to generate reactions.

A Rights Group has asked the president to order the immediate release of the Senior Editorial staff who was picked up and detained by armed police operatives in Abuja

Mr. Amaechi Anakwe was arrested on Thursday by the Police on the order of the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu who was early 2013 accused of running a parallel government in River State

Mr. Anakwe’s offence was that in a recent edition of POLITICAL PLATFORM, a current affairs RAY POWER RADIO network programme, he referred to the AIG as “CONTROVERSIAL MBU.”

In a Statement signed by HURIWA National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, the right body condemned the alleged high handedness  and the flagrant violation of the constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of expression and movement under chapter four of the Nigerian Constitution by the serving AIG Mr. Mbu

The Rights group asked the President to also order the Police Service Commission to issue a query to the Assistant Inspector General of Police for the alleged gross abuse of the fundamental human rights of a Nigerian who was simply doing his duties as constitutionally guaranteed under section 22 of the 1999 constitution.
