Fresh industrial action may hit the health sector is indications coming from the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria is anything to go by. The Association on Friday warned that the health sector will be grounded if doctors being owed outstanding salaries in 8 states are not paid in 2 weeks
Abia, Benue, Kogi, Osun, Rivers, Plateau,Oyo and Lagos are the states owing the doctors between 2 and 12 months salaries.
The Association, through its national president, Dr. Dan-Jumbo Prince, issued the threat in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State. The doctors visited the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho where doctors in the state, owed 6 months of salaries met with the national executive.
The meeting let to a request by the association for the establishment of a proper Hospital Management Board to ensure maintenance of facilities in the state.
