The Central Naval Command of the Nigeria Navy has impounded a vessel containing sixty six thousand barrels of crude oil amounting to over N1bn acquired illegally at Eremu oil field located in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The command also arrested 9 men on board the vessel MV DERA ONE belonging to one of the leading Exploration and Production Company in Nigeria.
The Commanding Officer Naval Base,Yenagoa Commodore Salisu Jubril who represented the FOC conducted newsmen round the vessel says the company did not have the required papers to back their operations.
Comdr. Jubril said the company was supposed to have been given due approval from the ministry of Petroleum through the Naval headquarters .
However the Production Supervisor of the vessel Mitchel Onofigara says their activities at the oil well has all the required papers which they claimed was handed over to the Navy.
HOMELAND NEWS gathered that the Joint Task Force JTF was providing security for the vessel before it was impounded for illegal bunkering activity by the Navy.
