The Nigerian Military has been cautioned to observe the rights of civilians as it concludes the final phase of its campaign to root out Boko Haram insurgents from their Sambisa stronghold.
This advice was given by a visiting delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, in Abuja the nation’s capital.
Over one thousand women and children have been rescued in the last four weeks by the military as it intensified its campaign on Boko Harams Sambisa enclave.
This the ICRC says is commendable but also warned that the Military must continue to uphold and respect international conventions it is a signatory to.
