The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Ukuakpolo-kpolo , Oba Erediauwa says the Palace has not mandated any Chief to make Political statements regarding the forth coming Elections .
The Oba gave the warning at an emergency meeting of Palace Chiefs and Media executives and also warned against further broadcast of a video showing the visit of the crown Prince, Ehenede Erediauwa to President GoodLuck Jonathan by some television stations.
The Oba who spoke through the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe observed that the un-authorized comments by some Palace Chiefs have resulted in controversies and counter claims, while the Palace view the action as unscrupulous and overzealous meant to whip up sentiments and boost support of the People.
The Omo N’Oba and the entire Palace Chiefs say they seriously frown at the somewhat image tarnishing development vis-a vis the Oba Palace and warned those involved as well as the Media Organizations to be ware.
Oba Erediauwa notes that all citizens participating in political activities or in one political party or the other are his Subjects and that he loves all.
The Omo N’Oba at the same time prays to the almighty God and ancestors to give Nigeria and Edo state in particular, politicians who will accord the traditional institutions its pride of place in the constitution.
