From Paul Ibeh
Fresh indication has emerged suggesting that Igbos may not have determined “the way to go” in next year’s presidential election. It has been widely reported that Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, the umbrella body for pan-Igbo groups have endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as the choice of the Igbos.
Now, Secretary General of the organization, Dr. Joe Nworgu, says the Igbo Nation will yet decide on the 2015 Presidency after wide consultations. He was speaking to the executives of the Ohanaeze Youth Wing who paid him a visit at his Enugu residence.
The Secretary General said that Igbos are not in a hurry to stand by any political party or candidate for the purpose of the presidential election.
The youth wing requested to be part of the consultation and the Secretary General responded:
“I will report back to the Ohanaeze your wish to join in the consultation, so that when Ndigbo have finished consulting, we will take a stand on 2015.
“But since our president, Goodluck Jonathan has gotten used to body language and it is now part of transformation agenda, as he consider, we shall also be considering.
“When the time comes and we have finished consultations, with your collaborations, the voice of the youths must be heard because the youth form 60 percent of the population.
Dr. Nworgu added that every arrangement will ultimately ensure that the South East will produce the President at the end of Dr. Jonathan’s tenure in unbroken succession.
