Nigeria has recorded 464 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 156,963.
Announcing the new cases in a late night tweet on Wednesday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) disclosed that the country also recorded 16 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.
The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 22 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
According the NCDC, of the new cases, 131 were recorded in Lagos, 69 in Kaduna, 33 in Akaw Ibom. 31 in Imo and 30 in Katsina state.
Other states with new cases include, Kano-26 Ondo-23 Yobe-20 FCT-18 Ogun-13 Rivers-12 Kebbi-11 Ekiti-9 Osun-6 Oyo-6 Borno-5 Gombe-5 Plateau-5 Edo-4 Abia-3 Delta-3 Zamfara-1.
NCDC said till date, 156,963 cases have been confirmed, 135,831 treated and discharged and 1,939 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ABuja.
As of 9am on March 4, 2021, the country has tested 1,544,008 samples while 19,212 cases are active.
The NCDC disclosed that the total number of active coronavirus cases was now standing at 19,212 after a decrease of 401 in the past 24 hours.
The Centre said a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities
