The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has banned five oil marketing companies from supplying aviation fuel to local and foreign airlines operating in Nigeria.
NCAA also directed the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to deny the companies access to airports in the country pending further directives.
In a notice sent to the Airline Operators of Nigeria, NCAA said the companies have no depot facilities and that the agency has been unable to verify their integrity and competencies.
The companies named in the notice are Ascon Oil, Acorn Petroleum, Jushad Oil and Gas, Lubcon and Star Orient Aviation.
European Aviation Safety Agency four months ago wrote to the NCAA that contaminated aviation fuel bought by foreign airlines flying into Nigeria, was found to have damaged their aircraft engines.
