19 persons today lost their lives in a fatal accident involving a fuel laden tanker-truck and an 18-seater passenger bus along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
The incident which occurred around 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Fidiwo/Ajebo axis of the expressway, reportedly, claimed the lives of the driver and other occupants of the bus on the spot.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the accident involved a fuel laden truck with registration number, RAN 571 XA and cement laden Dangote truck marked, AJG 40 XA, as well as a passenger bus marked (LAGOS) AGL 373 XR.
HOMELAND NEWS gathered that the fuel truck moving inward Ibadan, the Oyo state capital had attempted to overtake the cement laden truck at a road diversion point before resulting in a head-on collision with the passenger bus which was moving outward Ibadan to Lagos.
As at the time of filling this report, rescue mission was still on-going by the combined efforts of TRACE personnel, men of the Nigeria Police as well as officials of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC).
