Whether or not, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, will be extradited to the United States will remain uncertain for sometime to come.
Proceedings on the suite filed by the Attorney General of the Federation before the Federal High Court, was stalled on Wednesday.
Mr Kyari, is to be handed over to the U.S government over allegations of wire fraud involving Abbas Ramon popularly known as Hushpuppi, an Instagram celebrity.
The Attorney-General of the Federation filed an extradition application at the Federal High Court in Abuja following a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.
Almost at the same time, the now defiled super cop was caught by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in a sting operation for aiding drug trafficking.
He has been arrested, detained and arraigned for the alleged offence.
The earlier request from the U.S. authorities, according to Mr Malami, is “for the surrender of Abba Alhaji Kyari, who is a subject in a superseding three counts indictment.”
At the hearing of the suit on Wednesday, counsel for the AGF, Pius Akuta, informed the court, that the case was for “preliminary hearing.”
Counsel to Mr Kyari, Nureni Jimoh a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, told the court that he had not been served with relevant court papers.
The suit was subsequently adjourned till 27th of April.
