Communities along the Eleme road in Rivers state have grounded activities in the area as their protest enters the second day.

They are protesting the condition of the eleme-onne section of the east west road which they say has been in a very poor state for many years.

Access through the Akpajo junction in the area has been restricted to all vehicular movement.

Commercial vehicles conveying good where trapped and passengers were left in the middle of nowhere.

Another group of protesters barricaded the Port Harcourt Refinery junction in Eleme.

The situation has resulted in heavy traffic gridlock and forced commuters to walk long distances to reach their destinations.
