Reactions have continued to trail the conflict between the Presidency and the National Assembly over the amendment of the constitution.
The House of Representatives on Thursday said it will decide on President Jonathan’s refusal to sign the amendment bill into law.
A member of the ad-hoc committee on constitution review, Samson Osagie said this today in abuja
Faulting the president’s position, Hon. Osagie noted that the national assembly had met the requirement of the said section 9 sub section 3 of the constitution for a 4/5 votes of members of each house.
The bill was returned to the national assembly by the President on the grounds that it did not meet the necessary requirements by the 1999 constitution. The Presidency is also challenging what it termed a deliberate and subtle attempt of the Federal Legislators to erode the powers of the executive through the amendment.
