Former Governor of old Anambra state and a former Minister of Sports, Chief Jim Nwobodo has lost his first son, Ifeanyi to cancer.
Late Ifeanyi Nwobodo was a one-time commissioner for science and technology in Enugu state and a trained medical doctor.
According to Chief Nwobodo, his son died at the Niger Foundation Hospital in Enugu. He had returned from Huston Texas, USA after receiving treatment for cancer.
He was said to have complained of having pains on his leg and met a senior oncologist with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu, after which he died of complications from medication.
Senator Nwobodo narrated these while hosting the Governor of Ebonyi state, Martin Elechi who came on a condolence visit. He said the death was most unexpected because his son had gotten the best cancer treatment in USA and returned fit. According to the former governor, his family had gone for church thanksgiving service in his country home, Amaechi Awkunano in Enugu State about two weeks ago.
Governor Elechi, condoled with the Nwobodo family and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Late Dr. Nwobodo left behind his wife and children.
