Following the clamour for the conduct of a peaceful general elections, Nigerians have been urged to shun violence and ensure the upcoming polls is successful.
 
This was as the National Peace committee met with service chiefs in Abuja to ensure security agencies live up to their billing.
 
The chairman of the committee, former head of state, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar while disclosing that there have been assurances from the agencies, also called on Nigerians to unite against election violence in the interest of the nation.
 
The National peace committee was birthed after the famous Abuja accord that saw candidates of participating political parties agree to compel their supporters to shun violence whatever the outcome of the polls.
