Leaders of the South East geopolitical zone have condemned the rising spate of violent attacks in the region.
The past one week saw at least three attacks where police facilities and a correctional center were destroyed in Imo state.
The state governors, leaders of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo and heads of security agencies in the region met today in Owerri.
They resolved to establish a security outfit to be known as Ebube-agu to coordinate activities of vigilante organisations in the region.
Chairman of the South East governors forum, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state announced that open grazing has been banned in the region long time ago.
He urged security agencies to keep their part of the bargain by enforcing the ban.
The meeting also agreed that all stakeholders will pull resources together to end ensure that the protection of live and property is guaranteed.

It among other measures mapped out to forestall future occurrence, formed a south east joint security outfit code name Ebebuagu that will coordinate the functions of vigilante groups in the region.
Speaking to Journalists after about four hours closed door meeting at the Government house Owerri, the chairman and Governor of Ebonyi state Dave Umahi urged FG to bring people involved in the recent killings in the region, to justice.
The meeting that was attended by Governors of the five South east states , leadership of Ohaneze NDIGBO, security operatives and other stakeholders in the zone, wants families of the victims be compensated.
