The faceoff between the Nigerian government and the microblogging site, twitter, may be heading for a resolution.
Twitter has reached out to government and negotiations have begun.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed made this known while addressing the State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council, which was chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
The Minister said the reports of Twitter’s huge financial losses which are running into billions, show the suspension has been very effective.
Mr. Mohammed assured that as soon as the microblogging site conforms with the laws of the land by being duly registered, licensed, with a commitment to operate within regulations, the ban will be lifted.
There is no information on how long it will take for the process to be completed.
The federal government has threatened to prosecute anyone who violates the ban by continuing to make use of the site.
But it is still unknown which part of the Nigerian laws covers the ban and imposed by government.
