There is an indication that the reported shooting of the Publisher of online news platform, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, may just be false.
Earlier on Monday, the social media was taken over by reactions to the purported shooting of Sowore by the police in Abuja.
While some said it was a live bullet, others suggested that it was a teargas canister that inflicted the injury on him.
But a video that emerged online hours after raise a credibility question.
22 seconds into the one minute, two seconds clip, a siren was heard which Sowore’s posture recognized. Then the chant of a solidarity song followed.
At 39 seconds, a young man in white top with black design came on shot.
He threw something on the ground near Sowore’s feet and there was a shout from someone. Note that Sowore was still standing and the singing paused for a moment.
Then at 45 seconds, the young man reappeared on shot with a can in his right hand and sprayed a white substance on the ground.
At that point, the publisher went down as the solidarity song restarted.
Feel free to come to your own conclusion but this didn’t seem like police shooting. Does it?
