Pensioners in Rivers State have issued a one week ultimatum to the state government to pay them their unpaid three months allowances and pension increases.

Chairman of the Pensioners in Rivers State Festus Abibo gave the ultimatum when the pensioners staged a peaceful protest to government house, Port Harcourt today.

The pensioners said they are suffering untold hardship due to their three months unpaid allowances and pension increases of 2003 and 2013.

Responding on behalf of the State Government , the Permanent Secretary Government House Fortune Oguru said he will forward their matter to Governor Chibuike Amaechi whom he said is not in the state at the moment.

Mr. Oguru urged the pensioners to remain peaceful as government will do all it could to solve their problem.
