Pulled from Golbal Village Extra

If plans by the Presidency as revealed to Global Village Extra are anything to go by, Professor Attahiru Jega, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC may be replaced soon.
Impeccable sources from Nigeria’s Federal Capital, who confided in our correspondent, disclosed that the Presidency is looking at bringing another academic to replace Jega following his astuteness over the postponed elections.
President Goodluck Jonathan has been reportedly advised not to renew Jega’s appointment, which is expected to end in June this year.
According to Jonathan’s cronies, Jega has become too difficult to handle because he stood his ground against the postponement of the elections despite the security issues raised by the security outfits and having not allowed himself to be dictated to by anyone since assuming office like other appointees of the government.
The source who pleaded anonymity stated that, “the Presidency is considering bringing in another academic from the Southwestern part of the country. He is currently heading a tertiary institution in the country. A professor of Political Science and International Relations, the proposed candidate is said to be a sibling of a serving governor in the South-West, who is a close ally of the President.
“As a prelude to removing Jega from office, some close allies of the President had started accusing him of taking side with the opposition to undermine the success of Jonathan and his party in the next election”.
