The Police in Abia state have paraded two nurses working in an hospital being used as baby factory in Aba, Abia state.
The command also paraded four pregnant inmates, one of whom was the mother of a two year old baby, rescued during a raid of the hospital by the security operatives.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna who paraded the suspects in Umuahia, said that men of the Command were still on the trail of the Medical Director of the private hospital located at Ihie Umudem Isuochi in Umunneochi council Area of the state who fled during the raid.
According to the PPRO, the fleeing doctor, (names withheld) and the nurses were using the hospital as shelter for young women with unwanted pregnancy, who upon delivery will sell the babies to the hospital management, who in turns sell them to willing buyers.
The Abia Police spokesman, gave the name of one of the inmates with a little baby as Sopuruchi from Eneka in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, explaining that efforts were on to re-unite the inmates with their families.
Also paraded were some suspected kidnappers and robbers arrested at different parts of the state.
The PPRO disclosed that constant weekly raid of suspected criminal hideouts in the state had led to the arrest of over 150 suspects since August.
He noted that about 50 had been arraigned in court while those arrested for drug-related offenses were referred to the Enugu zonal office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
The police spokesman revealed that the police had rescued unhurt, one kidnap victim, Ugo Charles Ajieke of Power Line in Obingwa council of the state who was abducted last week at the gate to his compound.
The spokesman restated the commands readiness to rid Abia State of criminal elements and provide maximum security for all residents.
