Abia state police command has begun the trail of one Mr. Chinedu Okorie who allegedly beheaded one Ahamefule Mba both from Umuokwe Umuhu Ezechi in Bende Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s PPRO, Mr. Geoffery Ogbonna who confirmed the incident, revealed that the police have intensified efforts to track down the alleged murderer.

Mr. Okorie was said to have committed the dastardly act at the weekend.

Although no one knows the reasons for the killing, those who witnessed the killing at the village stream said the victim in his early thirties was fetching water with his head bent towards the stream when the assailant unexpectedly emerged and cut off his head at once.

They said immediately he saw what he had done, he took to his heels while they raised alarm.

They said days before the incident, okorie had been acting strangely as he kept sharpening a matchete for days.

Several search by the angry youths for the fleeing man failed as he was no where to be found.

However, the body of the deseased has been deposited at a motuary within the area by the divisional police.

Mr. Ahamefule Mba is said to be a relative of former commissioner for Lands in the state, Chief Paul C. Mba.
