The Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri has been impeached after he was found guilty of gross misconduct.
He was removed after the report by the five-member committee recommended him for impeachment.
18 out of the 26 lawmakers adopted for his removal.
Hon Kadiri was on February 26, arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for an alleged assault after he reportedly led suspected hoodlums to invade the residence of the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, in Oru-Ijebu, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.
The deputy speaker who represented Ijebu-North at the State Assembly while reacting to the impeachment said “the development, to say the least, was grossly unconstitutional and illegal”.
He explained that he had already initiated consultations with his lawyers to fashion out the best possible way to address the issue.
He also urged his supporters, constituents and members of his political party in Ijebu North II State Constituency to remain calm as the issue is been sorted”.
