National leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday paid a surprise visit to former military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida at his home in Minna, Niger state.

Asiwaju Tinubu was in Niger state to commiserate with the government and people over the recent banditry incidents in the state.

The APC leader made a donation of N50m to the state which Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said will help in meeting the needs of the state.

After meeting with the governor and his team. Asiwaju visited retired General Babangida whom he has not agreed on many national issues with for a long time.

Tinubu, who recently spoke on his ambition to become Nigeria’s president next year, said the visit is part of his consultations for his aspiration.

Not much was known on the areas of the conversation between the retired general and the politician but it will not be a shock if the visit was a mere formality.

Asiwaju was one of those in the forefront of the NADECO movement that opposed the annulment of the 1993 presidential election by General Buhari.

The faceoff for fierce and deep and lasted even beyond the return of democracy in 1999.
