Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, is now the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, for next years Presidential election.

He was declared winner at the party’s primary which held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, in the federal capital, Abuja.

Alhaji Abubakar defeated 12 others by polling 371 votes out of 760 votes cast. 12 votes were void.

The closest aspirant was the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who garnered 237 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Abubakar promised to work together with his fellow contestants who were not victorious.

He said that lasting reconciliations, through the party’s conflict resolution mechanism, will commence to ensure that aggrieved members of the party are brought back to the fold.

The primary ended with the handing over of the party’s flag to the candidate by the national chairman of the party, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu

BUKOLA SARAKI- 70 VOTES

NYESOM EZENWO WIKE- 237 VOTES

ATIKU ABUBAKAR – 371 VOTES
