On May 4, there is likely going to be a showdown on the floor of the Adamawa State House of Assembly as two factions have emerged and are set on collision course.

9 out of the 25 members of the Adamawa State House Assembly, loyal to the state governor, James Ngilari, have allegedly endorsed and impeached speaker of the state assembly Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.  The aggrieved lawmakers are blaming the said speaker of highhandedness and unilateral closure of the House of Assembly for weeks unlawfully.

The faction elected Jerry Kundisi as speaker who announced his principal officers.

But the other faction of assembly gave a vote of confidence on the embattled speaker, recognising him as the authentic speaker.

The friction had been on since the return of the governor, through a verdict of the Federal High Court, after he was edged out with his former boss, Murtala Nyako by the Fintiri led Assembly.

On Wednesday the fintiri led faction during  plenary, condemned the actions of the other faction and described it as unconstitutional and asked the people of the state to disregard it. That was before adjourning to Monday, the 4th of May.

On that same day, the two factions had planned to hold plenary in the Chambers. How this will turn out cannot be known for now.
