Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Soludo, may have lost his chance of standing in the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission omitted his name in the list of candidates it published earlier today.
INEC rather included the federal lawmaker representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Chukwuma Umeoji as the Candidate of APGA for the election.
INEC also recognised Jude Okeke as the National Chairman of APGA.
The list by the commission left the space for the People’s Democratic Party blank, suggesting it has no candidate yet.
Although, the party held its primary on the 26th of June, which produced Valentine Ozigbo as its candidate, some factions within the party are still challenging the outcome.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Victor Oye, is asking INEC to immediately publish the name of its candidate, Charles Soludo, citing section 31 subsection 3 of the Electoral Act.
The party insists that failure of INEC, to publish the details of its candidate for the Anambra governorship election, is a ploy to allow the commission comply with a Jigawa State high Court judgement which the party has appealed against.
As it stands, if APGA and PDP are out of the race for the Anambra state governorship, the coast may be clear for either the APC or YPP candidate to coast home to victory.
