It will be “almost idiotic” for Nigeria to disintegrate at this time and age, when Africa is trying to reintegrate for political, social and economic development.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says this and insists that the country is better together for all the ethnic groups in the country to remain together as one indivisible nation.
Chief Obasanjo holds that with fairness and equity, Nigerians will feel proud to remain as part of the country rather than wish to separate from others.
He made this known at the luncheon and investiture organised by the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Ogun State chapter, held at the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
He condemned all forms of call for break up.
In the meantime, the former President is scheduled to meet on Thursday with top religious leaders to discuss the pressing issues of National Unity, Security and peace.
Others expected at the meeting convened by the Interfaith Initiative for Peace, are the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Mohammed Saad Abubakar, Cardinal John Onaeiyekan and former military head of state, Abdulsalam Abubakar.
