The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega has assured that the elections will go ahead as scheduled on the 28th of March.
He made the commitment today in Abuja during a National briefing of accredited observers for the general elections.
Professor Jega reminded observers that their role was simply to observe and report their findings warning against interfering in the electoral process.
His assurance will be seen as crucial coming just nine days to the Presidential elections.
Speaking also, the Inspector General of Police, Sulieman Abba assured of adequate security before, during and after the polls.
He warned that the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on anyone who breaks the law.
He however said, the job of securing voters and the electoral process requires a synergy between all security agencies.
