Students of the University of Jos, this morning staged a protest in front of the University main gate along Bauchi Road over a purported increase in tuition and other school charges by the University authorities.

The students who were due to begin their second semester examination today, prevented entry and exist human and vehicular traffic in to the institution.

Student Union Government President of the University, Abel Nok said among other things they want a removal of the planned charges and autonomy of the student union body.

Some of the students demanded the removal of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Hayward Mafuyai over his insensitivity to the Plight of the students.

In a Statement by the Registrar of the University, Jilli Dandam, the management denied any plan by the University to increase school fees and charges insisting that the second semester examination scheduled to begin today remains unchanged.
