Nigeria has had its fair share of losses through collapsed building. One of the most recent is the coming down of a building belonging to the Synagogue Church of all Nation headed by popular cleric, Prophet TB Joshua.

More than a hundred people died in that singular incident. About 80 of the dead are South Africans.

The huge consequence of the menace of building collapse may have prompted the Quantity Surveyor Registration Board to call for stiffer penalties for unprofessional conducts in the building and construction industry

President of the board, Mallam Husaini Dikko, made this call in Abuja at the 2014 Induction of 234 newly Registered Quantity Surveyors and Practicing Firms

Mallam Dikko warned those hiring the services of quacks to know that it take less amount of money  to seek professional inputs of quantity surveyors than to face the consequences of building collapse

The induction according to Mallam Dikko  has become necessary  to allow the new members meet up with global best practice in the building and construction industry.
