The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has alerted Nigerians of alleged grand plan to force INEC chairman Prof Attahiru Jega to proceed on Terminal leave.

ASUU ‎in a resolution reached at the end of a National Symposium on the 2015 elections signed by Chairman University of Ibadan Chapter, Prof Segun Ajiboye asked Nigerians to be alert of the grand plan which is targeted at scuttling the 2015 general elections.

ASUU warned those it referred to as the cabals to tread with caution as the Nigerians are too sensitive to be hoodwinked to succumb to tyrannical ploy.

The Union said having succeeded in using military chiefs to influence shifting of the polls, ‘the next plan on their agenda is to ask Prof Jega to proceed on terminal leave while they bring a waiting willing tool who will do their bidding to rig the elections in their favour’

While urging Nigerians to stand up and resist elements of retrogression, ASUU noted that anyone who emerges from a credible, free and fair elections must be ready to implement fully the 2009 agreement reached with the union.

The resolution which bemoaned the haphazard implementation of the agreement said a purpose and focused attention of education will engender development in Nigeria.

While condemning hate speeches and advertorials being placed in the media, the union calls for caution among politicians and parties not to plunge the country into crises.

ASUU further urged the security agents to do all within its powers to ensure that it was not used as a pawn to destabilize the country but rather provide the needed security for the polls so that all eligible Nigerians who have obtained their cards would be able to exercise their rights without fear of intimidation.

‎The union which restated it’s call on Nigerians to obtain their Voter cards before the newly extended date expires said Nigeria was bigger that any groups of cabal.
