Senator Bukola Saraki, APC, from Kwara State has emerged the President of the Senate with Ike Ekweremadu of the minority PDP becoming the Deputy President of the Senate.
57 out of 109 members participated in the elections.
Bulk of APC Senators were in a meeting with the President at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. The meeting was summoned by the leadership of the APC to harmonise the position of the party ahead of the scheduled inauguration.
