President of the Senate Bukola Saraki’s visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday was more of recognition of the former President’s national status.
Senator Saraki went into closed-door meeting with the former leader, alongside other senators and APC chieftains who accompanied him.
Addressing Newsmen after the meeting that lasted for 2 hours, President of the Senate revealed that he came to seek advice and consult with the former Nigerian Leader because of his value to the country
Senator Saraki was elected President of the Senate unopposed on the 9th of June by 57 out of the 108 senators in a manner APC considered unacceptable and betrayal of trust; and since his emergence, there have been mixed opinions and reactions cutting across all political quarters.
Yet, he says, he is committed to APC and his primary legislative assignment
On the downward review of legislators’ salaries and allowances presently heating up the polity, President of the Senate was not forth coming with any categorical statement.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo chose not to make any comment in respect of the visit and other national issues
In the entourage of the President of the Senate are Senators Andy Uba, Danjuma Goje, Ahmed Yerima, Tayo Alasoadura;
Others include, former PDP National Secretary/former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola as well as former acting PDP National Chairman, Kawu Baraje, both joined the APC prior to the general elections.
