There are indications that the military have secured the train which was involved in a bomb attack earlier today.

The train was enroute to Kaduna from Abuja with about 970 passengers when some terrorists attacked and blew off the track.

A director at the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria, confirmed that the incident took place at a point between Katari and Rijana.

One of the passengers who confirmed the incident in a telephone call said the attackers have surrounded the train, shooting sporadically.

The Nigerian Police Force and troops of the Nigerian Air force who got information about the unfolding attack quickly mobilised to the scene and overpowered the terrorists.

The 970 passengers in the train were rescued unhurt and are in the custody of the military.
