Immigration authorities in Ghana has raised alarm over fear of possible infiltration by fugitives from Nigeria.

A statement from the office of the Comptroller General of Ghana Immigration Service, and addressed to all sector commanders of the service, is signed by Laud Affrifah.

It raised is concerns that some of the fleeing prisoners may be heading to Ghana.

On Tuesday last week, the Kuje medium security custodial centre was attacked by bandits freeing over 800 inmates.

Part of these inmates are 64 Boko Haram fighters detained in the facility; not less than 400 of the fugitives are still on the run.

“I am directed to inform you to institute stringent measures at all Points of Entry and intensify patrols to deter and intercept all escapees who will attempt to infiltrate the country,” the memo concludes.
