Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Eniye Abah.
HOMELAND NEWS gathered that the armed men numbering about 4 barricaded the official Prado jeep vehicle of the Council Chairman and dragged him out of his vehicle at gun point along the Otuasega-Okaki road area of the Council.
A close source said the abducted Council Chairman was on his way to the Council Headquarters to attend a stakeholders meeting on the need for the peaceful conduct of the aborted State Assembly constituency two election in the Area.
The source said the armed men dragged the council Chairman from his vehicle and transferred him into a blue colored Mazda and drove him away towards the waterside to a waiting speed boat.
It was learnt that the Mazda was later set ablaze by the armed men along the waterside and the number plate taken away.
The Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat who confirmed the incident , said preliminary report showed that the abducted Chairman was ferried by his abductors towards the Abua waterways in Rivers State.
He said policemen on the waterways have been placed on red alert to rescue the council boss.
Meanwhile, the Police has also confirmed the release of Joseph Agama,the twenty years old Cousin to the Minister of Petroleum Resources,Diezani Allison-Madueke from the kidnappers den.
Joseph Agama was abducted on the nineteenth of March and was released on the 8th of April, this year.
