The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of four workers of an Engineering Company in an attack on Monday.
They were killed at Assa community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Command’s Public relations officer, Micheal Abattam, said the oil workers were on their way to an oil plant in the community when the hoodlums opened fire on them.
Four of them died on the spot while some others were severely injured.
According to a report the oil plant in the community was under construction by the oil company.
National president of Congress of Ohaji Youths, Emmanuel Ugorji, also confirmed the attack on the oil workers.
Mr. Ugorji said that some community leaders, including himself and security agents have visited the scene of the attack.
It is still unclear whether the attack was an isolated incident or part of the enforcement of the sit-at-home ordered by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra in protest of the arrest and detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
