A convoy of bandits earlier today ran into trouble waters when they clashed with the police in Imo state.
The incident took place on the road leading to Njaba Town where it was suspected the bandits were heading to for an attack.
Public Relations Officer of the state command, Michael Abattam, said two of the bandits was killed, while others fled into the bush.
One of the bandits’ vehicles was destroyed.
The operatives of ‘Operation Restore Peace’ while searching the vehicle, recovered one Ak 47 rifle, 10 rounds of live Ammunition, a locally made double barrel pistol and 2 expended cartridges.
The team also detonated an Improvised Explosive Devices into the parking lots of a nearby Njaba Police Station causing minimal damage.
According to the statement, cordon and pursuant exercise is ongoing in the area while advising members of the public residing in the area not to panic as the ongoing Police clearance operation is designed to root out violent criminals in that axis.
