The PDP has commenced screening of gubernatorial Aspirants from the south east states. The exercise is to determine those suitable to contest in the party’s primaries ahead of the elections next year.
South east zonal office of the party in Enugu, became a beehive of political activities since Saturday the exercise begun.
With 18 aspirants, Imo state has the highest number of governorship hopefuls, among the state involved in the exercise.
Some of the major contenders in the state includes, Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, Ifeanyi Ararume, former Gov. Ikedi Ohakim, and Martin Agbaso, who recently defected from APGA to the PDP.
Those from Enugu includes, the disputed PDP consensus candidate in the state, and a member a the Federal House of representatives, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Sen. Ayogu Eze, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Eugene Udoh, Anayo Onwuegbu, Chinedu Onuh, among others.
Ebonyi has the former Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu which has raised lots of controversies, the incumbent deputy governor, Dave Umeahi, and others.
Aspirants from Abia state were also present at the commencement of the screening.
South east zonal chairman of the PDP, Col. Augustine Akobundu, (rtd) had assured all the gladiators from the various state of a level playing ground.
