From Paul Ibe, Enugu
Former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani has been accused of double speak in his assessment of President Goodluck Jonathan. On Tuesday, during the formal declaration of Pres. Jonathan for a second term, Chief Nnamani while speaking on behalf of the south east zone of the PDP, lamented over the abandoned state of the Enugu-Onitsha express road and at the same time said it was only President Jonathan that can fix the road if re-election.
South East zone of the All Progressives Congress, wondered why the President ignored the road for the four years he has been in power but will only attend to it if re-elected.
APC’s publicity secretary, Osita Okechukwu in a statement made available to HOMELAND NEWS in Enugu said the party was outraged over Chief Nnamani’s utterances.
“We are yet to recover from Senator Nnamani’s double-speak statement, on one hand indicting President Jonathan for neglecting the busiest highway in the South-East, Enugu-Onitsha highway, a road that is in terrible condition, and on the other hand saying that it is only the same President Jonathan who can fix it.
The former Senate helmsman, also said at the event that people of the South-East were supporting Jonathan because they do not want the Second Niger Bridge to be abandoned.
APC’s statement added “We rate this as a grave insult to our collective intelligence, a double-speak and corrupted propaganda, coming from someone we thought we can follow to the battlefield blindfolded.
“Why is the Second Niger Bridge not in any federal budget? Is the Second Niger Bridge not dead on arrival, for Julius Berger is not known for borrowing?”
According to the opposition party, “we are disappointed with Nnamani”, just as they wondered how long Igbo leaders would sell their people for “stomach infrastructure.
