The Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly has called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
The group made the call on Thursday in Abuja during a session with the media.
On behalf of the Forum, Senator Femi Okorunmu said the call was informed by the alleged conspiracy between INEC and the Northern Elders Forum with the sole desire of enthroning a President of the northern extraction.
Former Federal Commissioner for Information and a leader of the Ijaw nation, Edwin Clark and a former governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife accused the INEC Chairman of planning to rig the election in order to achieve the ethnic ambition of the North.
Meanwhile, INEC had insisted on conducting the elections as scheduled despite protest and calls demanding a postponement.
