The House of Representatives will reconvene on Thursday for a special session to consider President Jonathan’s request for an extension of the state of emergency in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states
The decision was taken at a meeting of the House leadership in Abuja.
The speaker, Aminu Tambuwal said he called for the meeting after receiving a letter from President Jonathan requesting for an extension of the state of emergency.
Whether or not the session will be without incidents is unknown.
The House had earlier adjourned plenary till December 3. That was when the speaker announced his defection to the APC. Since then, accusations of betrayal and threats of impeachment have not been in short supply towards the man who became speaker in violation of the PDP’s internal arrangement
In what has been described as a swift reversal, Aminu Tambuwal has announced that he will not be participating in the APC presidential primaries though he returned the nomination form picked for him by some of his associates recently.
Attention of political watchers will focus at the house on Thursday. Will the PDP lawmakers take advantage of the emergency session to push for a leadership change having lost the Speaker to the minority or allow sleeping dog lie in wait for scheduled resumption day of December 3?
