Arsenal have been knocked out of the Europa League by Olympiacos after losing on away goals on a dramatic night at the Emirates.
The Greek visitors scored a last gasp goal to beat Arsenal 2-1 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate, securing a spot in the last 16 on away goals.
Pape Abou Cissé opened the scoring for Olympiacos in the 53rd minute to level the tie and force extra time.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then scored a spectacular overhead kick to make it 1-1 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.
However, Olympiacos’s Youssef El-Arabi netted a goal in the 119th minute to book his side’s spot in the next round of the competition.
Arsenal are the only English club to fail to advance to the next stage following Wolves and Manchester United’s victory against Espanyol and Club Brugge, respectively.
Martin Keown pulled no punches in assessment of Arsenal’s devastating European defeat.
“The rebuilding of this team has to start now! The commitment wasn’t there from the off,” he said on BT Sport.
Arsenal return to action next Monday when they face Portsmouth in the FA Cup fifth round.
