Former minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah has finally joined the race for the Anambra North Senatorial seat by picking the nomination form from her political party, the PDP.

The position is presently being occupied by Lady Margery Okadigbo, wife of former President of the Senate, late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, from Oyi council area of Anambra state.

Speculations are also rife that the former minister’s popularity will first be tested at the party level before proceeding to the election proper as she will contend with the might of some established politicians for the PDP ticket. Mrs. Okadigbo, Joy Emordi are said to be interested in running for the senate as PDP candidate in the February polls.

HOMELAND NEWS gathered that Mrs. Oduah picked the form over the weekend in Abuja, after months of intense pressure from stakeholders in the Senatorial zone.

Our correspondent recalled that sometime last month, a group, Anambra North Development Forum, had during a forum in Onitsha, decried lack of quality representation of the zone in the National Assembly and resolved to send a delegation to the former minister to vie for the Sena¬torial seat  in the 2015 election.

It was further learnt that since after the delegation visited Mrs. Oduah who hails from Ogbaru area of the state, she has been holding consultations with major political stakeholders in the zone.

Some PDP chieftains in the zone who reacted to the development described it as wonderful.

Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, a onetime Chairman of the PDP in the state, said it is a positive idea and sign of political and economic renaissance for the people of Anambra North senatorial zone.

He said the move to give the people of Anambra North quality representation through the Mrs, Oduah, is hope rekin¬dled for the people who have been suffering for a long time.
